How many people can use Camp Latieze?
Maximum overnight capacity for Camp Latieze is 80 persons. There are nine cabins that sleep eight people. Two cabins have bathrooms. One cabin is handicapped accessible. Central lavatories and showers are located convenient to the cabins and the Main Lodge. Also, a three-bedroom, two-bath unit with kitchen is available to rent for an additional fee.
Tenting and R.V.'s?
We sometimes get asked if tent or R.V. sites are available. We do not have any "formal" tent or R.V. sites. However, tenting is permitted in designated areas and some smaller R.V.s may fit into the group parking lot. There is limited turn around area, so if you are considering bring a R.V. trailer – please take that into consideration. Electricity is not available in the parking area.
What does " rustic" mean?
Rustic means that the majority of the wooden cabins have bunk beds and mattresses. Participants need to bring bedding. The best is a sheet to put down over the mattress and bring a sleeping bag and pillow. Also the majority of the cabins do not have private restrooms. All cabins are heated.
What do I wear?
Camp Latieze is located at 3,000 ft. elevation. Spring and fall as well as early summer nights can be cool. Be sure to bring warm clothes for those times of year. Summer days are warm. Be sure to wear proper footgear. Tennis shoes or boots are recommended – please no sandals except in the pool area. Be sure to bring your swimsuits for those hot summer days.
What about bathroom and shower facilities?
With the exception of two of the cabins and the 3-bedroom house that have their own bathrooms, group showers and restrooms are a short walk from all the cabins. Participants need to bring personal toiletries and towels.
So? What about kitchen facilities?
Camp Latieze has a fully stocked commercial kitchen attached to the Main Lodge facility. Fully stocked means that we provide pots pans, plates, glasses and utensils. We have a commercial dishwasher and also have a walk-in refrigerator. A large group bar-b-que is available next to the kitchen.
What about meeting space?
Camp Latieze has a comfortable lodge facility that will accommodate your entire group. The lodge has both a fireplace and stove to keep you toasty during those chilly early spring and late fall days. We have a television, VCR and overhead projector. Our new building has a separate meeting room and classroom that can accommodate up to 40 in each. A large outdoor amphitheater, with stage and fire pit, provides outdoor meeting space.
What about outdoor recreation?
In addition to hiking trails, Camp Latieze has a swimming pool, horseshoes and volleyball court and yes we have the recreation equipment on site. Miles and miles of dirt roads are available for mountain biking walking or running. Lassen National Park is approximately ½ hour drive away with plenty of additional hiking, fishing and bicycling.
What should I bring?
Things that will make you comfortable and to feel at home. You'll need a sheet, sleeping bag and pillow, toiletries, towel (yes, you can bring a hairdryer!), proper clothes to fit the time of year, sunglasses, a flashlight, camera, good book, and mosquito repellent for early summer nights. Also – don't forget to bring along a willingness to spend time in nature??
